Culture: Community and Participation

We are passionate about creating a great working environment and standing by our points of culture, and we believe it’s very important to encourage our Team to contribute to the wider community with their skills and talent.

It’s not something that we tend to promote but we are proud to participate in some important fundraising and education initiatives where hopefully we can all make a difference, and by talking about these it continues to raise awareness.

The last few months has seen quite a bit of activity behind the scenes on this front. Our Team has jumped on board and celebrated many not- for- profit initiatives, several of which have touched us personally.

R U OK Day saw us host an afternoon tea in all our studios while we listened to one Team members’ personal journey with depression and anxiety, raising awareness of mental health issues and great organisations like Beyond Blue and Batyr.

We’ve sponsored several industry mates participating in the Tour de PIF Bike Ride (Property Industry Fund -making a difference to the lives of homeless children); and also Relay for Life (raising vital funds for Cancer Council research, prevention and support services).

Last month a big commitment was again undertaken by our very own Anthony Merlin (Joint Managing Director) who took part in his 7th Variety Club Bash raising close to $30K. The Annual Variety Bash raises much needed funds for sick, disadvantaged and special needs children. The combined state bashes raised over $7.5M.

Several years ago Anthony’s goal was to create a Variety Bash vehicle with one major difference; the ability to hand out soft serve ice-cream en-route from Brisbane to Busby’s Bore during the Bash. So  the Icecreaminator – an old Bedford Ice-Cream Van was converted. Unfortunately this year the Icecreaminator only made it to the end of Day 4 where the transmission blew up! Thankfully another Bash car – “Hippies” (1970 Ford Fairlane) was lent to Merlin and for the first time the event was finished in a better car than he’d started in!

Well done to all the Team who have contributed and played a role in making a difference, keep up the good work.
