i2C expands industrial expertise with Masterpet

Masterpet_Feature

Masterpet is a feed and food processing facility that produces, conditions, packages, stores and distributes pet feeds both domestically and internationally.

Signalling a step up for i2C in terms of sector scope and complexity, the end result will be a state-of-the-art processing facility that covers a site in excess of 8ha. Allowing for the safe loading and unloading of multiple truck sizes, the design features three on-grade docks with awnings, a tail dock for cold storage loading and unloading, and a bulk grain awning for the ingestion of feed materials to the six grain silos on site.

As a food-production facility, strict controls around goods and materials had to be implemented to ensure quality control of the pet feed for Masterpet. This is reflected through the compartmentalisation of design with dedicated spaces for each stage. This includes but is not limited to separate receiving areas for unprocessed goods, sealed off from the final products and subsequent dispatch packaging.

It was important that the original design aesthetic of the industrial warehouse was maintained throughout the process, but like any project, it wasn’t without its challenges. Prior to the appointment of i2C by FourSQ Builders, the facility was already partly constructed. This has led to a host of design challenges for both parties including the re-documenting of the entire project for construction, re-designing in accordance with client standards and requirements, and the coordination of services and process equipment.

With the primary structure now complete, external cladding has commenced along with the installation of large scale production equipment and support engineering services. With the completion of these large scale units and cladding, major milestones have been completed.
We are looking forward to seeing Masterpet realise its full potential for the client as it expands into multiple industrial warehouses and production facilities, with future allowance for a visitor centre.
