The end result will be a state-of-the-art processing facility that covers a site in excess of 8ha. Allowing for the safe loading and unloading of multiple truck sizes, the design features three on-grade docks with awnings, a tail dock for cold storage loading and unloading, and a bulk grain awning for the ingestion of feed materials to the six grain silos on site.
As a food production facility, strict controls around goods and materials had to be implemented to ensure quality control of the pet feed for Masterpet. This is reflected through the compartmentalisation of design with dedicated spaces for each stage. This includes but is not limited to separate receiving areas for unprocessed goods, sealed off from the final products and subsequent dispatch packaging.
It was important that the original design aesthetic of the industrial warehouse was maintained throughout the process, but like any project, it had some challenges. Prior to the appointment of i2C by FourSQ Builders, the facility was already partly constructed. This led to some design challenges for both parties including the re-documenting of the entire project for construction, re-designing in accordance with client standards and requirements, and the coordination of services and process equipment.
