Taking Team Building to Dizzy Heights

What better way to kick off i2C’s 15th Year Anniversary than our Annual Team Building weekend away.

Every year the weekend gives the Team a chance to reflect on the wins, engage in some fun and discuss the future. Several years ago we developed the 7 company points of culture: integrity; passion; excellence; balance; accountability; teamwork and fun.

“We’ve worked hard establishing our culture and believe it sets us apart from other Design firms,” says Anthony Merlin, Managing Director “…we live and breathe them. They provide a clear direction.”

This year we were whisked away to Angahook Holiday Camp, a place frequented by school groups with dorm style accommodation set in the bush on the edge of the Great Ocean Road. The Camp was ideal for our weekend set in remote bushland we were able to connect with each other and soak up the natural surrounds with no 21st century distractions.

The weekend consisted of presentations by the management team, with insight into i2C’s current and future plans of growth, some group practical sessions and an informative talk by Dominic Arcaro – Director at Navire (former CBRE, Places Victoria) sharing his knowledge on various urban projects across Melbourne.

Friday and Saturday evenings were a huge success; the first sharing a casual drink or two on the deck whilst enjoying some great bbq cuisine. Then on the Saturday night the deck was transformed from casual to a fine dining experience where we were served the most delicious 3 course dinner. (We highly recommend the girls at Fishes & Loaves for any Catering requirements).

But the highlight of the weekend would have to be the initiative group activities – the giant swing was undoubtedly the most challenging. Once strapped into a rather uncomfortable harness, we were lifted and suspended 18 metres high, then suddenly released, rushing towards the ground.  An exhilarating experience for most – no doubt the profanities could be heard as far as Melbourne!

Many thanks to Gill Gannon and the Administration Team for organising such an amazing weekend away and we look forward to what’s in store for 2015.
