Last month we conducted our annual team building weekend, held at the Novotel on Darling Harbour. With most of the team arriving on Friday morning and the Perth office the night before, we had an early rise to kick off a day packed with activities. Anthony Merlin delivered the opening presentation, introducing the theme for this year as ‘Accountability’ while also underpinning the goals of i2C – Design Excellence, Outstanding Service and Teamwork.
This lead perfectly into our guest speaker for the day; Jason Clarke. Jason is the founder of Minds at Work, a motivational – inspiration focused company that turns cynicism and inertia into optimism and action for change. It was a great all day workshop with thought provoking activities and a chance for our team to work together on some really engaging activities, we were all left with some great ideas to bring back into i2C.
We had some spare time between the presentations and the dinner activities and some took the chance to have a quick look around the harbour and others spend the time getting ready for the activities to follow.
The evening started with some drinks and canapés on the balcony, a great way to mingle and share some thoughts from what was a wonderful presentation by Jason. After the delicious refreshments on the balcony overlooking the harbour, we moved inside for what would be a beautifully catered dinner.
The inaugural i2C Design and Management awards ceremony followed, they were a great chance for people to not only have a laugh, but to really show how much we appreciate the hard work done by everyone at i2C. Post-dinner and awards, a lot of the team made their way over to Cargo Bar on the other side of darling harbour, It was a chance for the team to let their hair down and dance the night away.
Saturday started early at the Glebe office with a session led by Brian and Anthony, it began with a celebration of two milestones, Andrew Kirkland who passed his 10 year mark with the company followed by Anthony Palmas notching up 15 years’ service. This milestone was celebrated with an all-things-statistics cake, data ranging from his claimed vs. actual utilization all the way over to the steady increase in items on his desk!

After a great morning session packed with information and celebrations, we all moved downstairs for an afternoon BBQ in the sun. We took a team photo in front of the Glebe office and soon realised that this team is expanding so very quickly! It was a great weekend and a chance for the three offices to catch up and get to know the new people that had joined the team throughout 2015 (13 in total!).
