Coles Local York Street is the first Coles Group supermarket to open in Sydney’s CBD in 15 years
With the Sydney CBD customer specifically in mind, Coles utilised data analytics to help select around 4700 product lines for the new store. The data showed that CBD customers buy 13 times more kombucha and twice as much tofu when compared to a typical Coles customer so the new store has been designed with a dedicated kombucha wall and a broader range of vegetarian options are available in-store to cater to the city-based customers.
Other store highlights include an in-store coffee and fresh juice station and Japanese mochi ice cream parlour. The new Coles Local store also has one of the largest food ranges in the convenience country, with more than 500 lunch and dinner solutions tailored to the busy CBD office worker.
The new Coles Local store continues Coles focus on sustainability, with soft plastics recycling bins, doors on fridges to save energy and uniforms which are made with partially recycled materials. Coles ten year partnership with Secondbite helps provide unsold, edible food to charities across Australia.
i2C was involved in the transformation of the Coles Chatswood Supermarket to a Coles Local store. Coles York Street is i2C’s first new completed Local store adding to a total of four Local stores in NSW. i2C have been engaged from the start of feasibility through to design, development and delivery working closely with all stakeholders involved to achieve a great customer experience.
