The vision for pavilion was to generate an attractive and inviting sporting precinct and landscape.
Faceted roof plains and peaks were developed and became the focal point of the design. Tied in with colour and concrete panel variations to the facade, the overall appearance contrasted immensely against the dry red environment.
The sports pavilion needed to provide a place for community non-sporting events so the design incorporated a fully equipped bar, kitchen and kiosk.
The ground floor club rooms, the first floor function room with bar, along with the open tiered pavilion seating offers the users the new vantage point to enjoy the sporting activities and community facility they were lacking. The Shire have further developed the surrounding landscape and the pavilion now sits in a prominent location at the edge of a lush green oval and vibrant red natural surround.
SHIRE OF KATANNING ADMINISTRATION AND
CIVIC BUILDING
The architectural brief was for the new Civic Centre to be sympathetic to the existing adjacent heritage buildings, whilst accommodating the functional requirements for the shire administration staff, councillors and the community.
The Liberal
The existing “Old Bank” building facing Macquarie Street is of significant heritage importance and as such the development proposal ensures the integrity of this building.
