On site at Eastern Creek Quarter
Construction of the first stage of Eastern Creek Quarter is well underway with key aspects of the site staring to take shape.
Precast concrete panels for the centre exterior walls can be seen propped and supported, ready for final structural fastening and connection to steel structure. Air handling units and other mechanical equipment have been delivered to site, for ceiling plenum installation.
The centre is set apart by these beautiful, bespoke concrete feature panels, designed by i2C Architects, moulded by Reckli, and manufactured by XL Concrete. These feature walls act as both wayfinding and architectural highlights that lift up over future shopfronts, drawing the visitor down the mall and towards the major tenant.
The bespoke feature wall panels are individually lifted into place and secured to steel structure behind. We love how the light plays with this first-of-its-kind pattern, invoking scenes of the natural context of Eastern Creek.
The feature wall changes its appearance as the day progresses and the sun casts varying shadows across it. The horizontal blanking section is where a future linear skylight will connect, allowing these walls to be experienced from both inside and out.
The team have been in awe of the construction process and professionalism of the contracting parties involved. Floor slabs and services have been laid across tenancies, which will be followed by the remainder of the steel structural roof before internal walls go up.
The team and client inspects the plant mezzanine levels and servicing around the future amenities and parents rooms. In the distance, the opening of the major tenant shopfront is visible.
Steel structure has been designed to curve along with the eventual feature wall, drawing the visitor in from the parking area. Shopfronts will sit below the wall, further highlighted by this architectural element.
The client and architectural team have worked tirelessly to provide the best possible design outcome, and inspect all aspects of the design, inclusive of roofs and plant areas. The working relationship between us has allowed for the success of this project.
Roof steel is ready for insulation and final finishes, after which internal fit outs can commence.
This first stage of Eastern Creek Quarter is expected to open in late 2019, comprising Woolworths and BWS plus a pharmacy, gym, childcare centre, medical centre and vibrant Street Food precinct.
