The brief was to create an engaging space for children, while also providing a comfortable and functional space for parents
The focus of the design was to create an engaging space for children, while also providing a comfortable and functional space for parents. The team incorporated elements of the local landscape such as the Pandanus palm and sandy beaches and playful elements throughout the space, including custom mobiles over the change benches that were designed to mimic colourful coral. The team also ensured that there were ample opportunities for interaction and play, while still adhering to safety guidelines.
One aspect that played a huge role in the overall interior design of this project was lighting. The team utilised soft glimmers to highlight the arched shapes in the parent’s room, creating a sense of warmth and comfort for parents and children alike. Additionally, the backlit floor to ceiling glass terrarium served as a beautiful and striking feature that could be seen from inside all of the spaces.
The vision was to create a design that incorporates coastal elements of the local landscape
The amenities graphics were curated to accentuate other coastal references in the design, bringing a sense of vibrancy and expanse to spaces that can otherwise often feel dark or stifling. These graphics simultaneously introduced a calming aerial perspective, adding a layer of serenity to the bustling shopping centre.
